Full Moon? Your Chances Of Labor May Have Increased

No this isn’t some superstition or old wives tale, it’s actual science. According to several reports and studies, women are more likely to go into active labor during a full moon as opposed to other moon phases. We all know the full moon can have major affects on peoples behavior, but what about it supposedly makes women give birth? Here’s some theories.

It is commonly believed that the pressure pull from the full moon affects the anatomy of all of us, including the fluids and membranes in a pregnant woman. According to a study published in 2007 the Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics states that “a casual relationship was noted between the number of rupture of the fetal membranes, delivery and barometric pressure, suggesting that low pressure induces the rupture of the fetal membranes and delivery. There is also a cultural belief over thousands of years that a woman’s fertility and moon cycles are interconnected.

Some state there is not a 100% of a correlation or scientific evidence that suggests this to always be true, but that doesn’t make doctors and nurses any less certain there is no doubt more women give birth during the full moon.
